Adult Choirs
The St. Andrew’s Choirs consists of individuals who lead the parish in song at liturgies and sing choral literature relative to the liturgical season or readings of the day. The choir (one at 9:00 and one at 11:30) sings from the Sunday after Labor Day through Pentecost. For special feasts during the year both choirs will join forces to assist those liturgies (Christmas, Easter, and Confirmation, for example). A simple, short audition/meeting is required for interested persons. Rehearsals Wednesdays at 7pm in the Music Room
Women’s Ensemble
This auditioned women’s group sings once a month at 5:30pm Mass. The women who make up this choir are also a part of the larger Adult Choir. Rehearsals: Sunday mornings at 10:15 - 10:50 in the Music Room.
Cantors
The cantors are the psalmists for the Liturgy and assist in encouraging the assembly in their sung responses and hymnody. Cantors are auditioned and sing a rotating weekend schedule. It is expected that cantors be a part
of the larger Adult Choir.
Children’s Choir
This is a seasonal choir that sings at the 4:00 pm Christmas Eve Mass each year.
Ecumenical St. Lucia Concert & Festival of Light
Each year on or around December 13 (The Feast Day of St. Lucia), an ecumenical concert involving area churches and musicians is held. The St. Andrew’s music personnel participate in this and we are the host parish each year. A combined choir of around 60 singers is featured for this occasion. Traditionally, a ‘Swedish Supper’ or a reception precedes or follows the concert. The free will offering benefits Roanoke Area Ministries
